Pak Interior Minister assures Zulqarnain of security

London, Apr 11 (ANI): Pakistan's Interior Minister Rahman Malik has assured former wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider that he along with his family would be given complete security should the cricketer decide to return to Pakistan from his self-imposed exile in the UK.
The cricketer mysteriously withdrew from the national team last November from the UAE where it was playing with South Africa in the one-day series.
Zulqarnain flew to Britain and sought asylum, claiming he was being hounded by the bookies and betting mafia for spot fixing, the Dawn reports.
He met Malik at his Central London residence and explained to him the circumstances, which led him to abandon the national team.
Zulqarnain told the minister that he was ready to withdraw his asylum application and return home on the promise that he and his family would not be harmed and provided complete protection.
It must be mentioned here that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had refused help to Zulqarnain since the 'keeper failed to substantiate his allegations against many of his team-mates including the Akmal brothers of being involved with the betting mafia. (ANI)
